Correction Regarding the March 1, 2025 Newsletter Regarding Iran's Nuclear Program
In my March 1, 2025 newsletter I wrote, “Estimates range from Iran already having built at least a couple nuclear weapons to having the means to build several to more than ten within two weeks should it so chose.”
I now think that statement was wrong and I apologize for my error.
Based strictly on publicly available knowledge, Iran does not now have any nuclear weapons but does have the capability to produce a few (HEU) weapons with its present stocks in lieu of using the more preferred weapons-grade uranium which would require further enrichment (that could be done quickly and then could amount to the capability to produce at least seventeen weapons per a February 27, 2025 FDD report). However, transforming the HEU to nuclear weapons would still take weeks or months to accomplish.
Nevertheless, this correction is based on publicly available knowledge. We don’t know what we don’t know regarding Iran’s progress and there is reporting that Iran has established a secret program to shortcut the path for Iran to build nuclear weapons. Therefore, time remains very short for Israel to do something about it.
